CLAY SCULPTURE “GIRL" BY CELEBRATED CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
One of the most amazing pieces curated by Bala, and you can see why. We love the magic and surrealism that transpire from the ceramic sculpture of an anthropomorphic creature. Called “Menina” (“Girl”), it was handmade with a combination of different types of mud and natural colors found in Minas Gerais State, where the Brazilian artist Rosana Pereira da Silva lives.
About the artist:
Rosana Pereira da Silva is an upcoming Brazilian contemporary artist. Her talent runs in the blood, as her whole family works with ceramics, including her grandfather, Ulisses Pereira, a universally recognized folk artist (his work was an entire module in the “Brésil, Arts Populaires" exhibition in the Gran Palais, Paris, 1978).
Born in 1988, Rosana from the artistic countryside of Minas Gerais State. She adopts her grandfather’s theme and style, exploring the relationship between animals and humans, in which zoo-anthropomorphic figures take the center stage. With a mixture of poetry and magic, her work portrays fantastical creatures that lightens up the viewers imagination and childhood.
